What is a Log Home?
A log home is a house which is made from logs that have been left in their natural state and not milled into conventional lumber as in other methods of home construction. There are two types of log homes available to be built at your property in France:

1. Handcrafted: This type of home is made from logs which are almost totally unchanged from their original appearance as trees. This is the more traditional form of log home, and centuries ago they were built with only an axe and a knife.
2. Milled: The logs used in these types of homes are altered in a manufacturing process and have been converted into timbers which are all the same size and shape. Most log homes these days are this variety, as they are much easier to build.

1. The first step is to make a budget for the construction of your new home. Factor in all costs such as building materials, labour, design, and other expenses.
2. Next you will need to select a design and manufacturing company to build your log home. Look for a firm with a good reputation and lots of experience. Ask to see samples of previous properties in France they have constructed and references from other clients.
